Savini-thon 2004

Frightvision 2004 was the last year for both the convention, and Savini-thon. Unlike prior Savini-thon’s, there was only one film shown called The Absence of Light, written and directed by a young film-maker named Patrick Desmond. Despite a shoe-string budget, Desmond was able to score an all-star cast including Caroline Munro (Maniac), David Hess (The Last House on the Left), Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes), Tony Todd (Candyman), and of course, Tom Savini.

I also had the occasion to meet a few other guests at the convention such as Kane Hodder (“Jason” from Friday the 13th Parts 7-10), and two of the featured zombies from the original Dawn of the Dead, Sharon & Clayton Hill.
