The trailer for the Americanized remake of the Pang Brothers' masterpiece, The Eye, has recently hit the web. The remake stars Jessica Alba as "Sydney Wells", a violinist who was blinded in a childhood tragedy. After a cornea transplant she regains her sight, but she also starts to have haunting visions as well.
One thing I've learned over the last few years is that American translation of Asian cinema does not typically work
too well. And in this case, the fact that there were three directors involved
with the project causes even more skepticism on my part. Nonetheless, I'll try to reserve judgment and watch the film with an open mind.
The Eye is scheduled to be released February 1st, 2008. Check out the trailer below!
