| March 17, 2007 This just in... The Return of Rider Strong
Apparently, being infected with a terminal flesh-eating virus and getting dumped at the side of a river bed left for dead isn’t enough to stop Rider Strong’s character “Paul”
in 2002's Cabin Fever from making a comeback. Through the miracle of Hollywood scriptwriting, Yahoo! news (Hollywood Reporter) reports that Rider Strong (Boy Meets World) has signed up to reprise
his role (somehow) in the upcoming sequel, Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever.
Directed by Ti West (The Roost), Cabin Fever 2 has the contagious flesh-eating virus making its way to a High School prom. Also returning will be the quirky Deputy (“Let’s Party”) Winston, played by Giuseppe Andrews.
In other news, Fangoria reports that the highly anticipated Tarantino/Rodriguez collaboration, Grindhouse, may have a difficult time getting a distribution-friendly “R” rating. A throwback to the ultra-violent, sexploitation films of the 70's, Grindhouse
is two back-to-back features, Death Proof, directed by Quentin Tarantino, and Planet Terror, directed by Robert Rodriguez. Some of the ratings controversy stems from
the faux-movie trailers that will be shown by “Splat-Pack” directors Rob Zombie and Eli Roth.
Zombie’s fake trailer, Werewolf Women of the SS (a possible nod to the 1975 film, Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS),
has a graphic Nazi concentration camp scene where a female victim has her blood drained and then gets branded.
Roth’s trailer, Thanksgiving Day, a homage to the 80's holiday-themed slashers, has a character played by Jordan Ladd (Cabin Fever)
giving fellatio to her boyfriend. She reaches up to stroke his hair, only to
find that he’s been decapitated!
Grindhouse is currently scheduled for an April 6, 2007 release date.
