The trailer for the upcoming vampire flick, I Am Legend recently hit the web. The film stars Will Smith, as "Robert Neville". I Am Legend is a unique vampire tale, based on the novella by Richard Matheson.

Matheson is one of the most influential sci-fi & horror authors of the 20th century. His many works include several Twilight Zone episodes, including the classic Nightmare at 20,000 Feet, starring William Shatner.

Some of his more recent works that have hit the silver screen include, What Dreams May Come (1998), and Stir of Echoes (1999).

The movie I Am Legend will actually be the third incarnation of this eerie Matheson tale. It was first done back in 1964 as The Last Man On Earth, and then in 1971 with The Omega Man.

By the looks of the trailer, it seems like the filmmakers may have once again taken some liberties with the original Matheson story. Nonetheless, I have to admit it looks rather promising.

I Am Legend is scheduled to be released this December.
