Yahoo! posted an interesting article about a legal dispute between Capcom, the makers of the videogame Dead Rising, and the MKR Group, the copyright owners of the film, Dawn of the Dead.
Both the film and the video game involve characters that are trapped inside a mall, struggling to survive a zombie
apocalypse. Richard Rubinstein, the principal shareholder and president of the MKR Group, was once a partner with George A. Romero under Laurel Entertainment.
Some of the other films Rubinstein has produced include Creepshow and Pet Sematary.
Curiously, George Romero once said that he felt the video game Resident Evil, another game by Capcom, was based on his film Night of the Living Dead. Romero was originally hired to write and direct the film adaptation of the popular survival horror game, but was yanked from the project after years of "developmental hell".
