Back in 2005, I met a very cute and talented actress named Kate Graham
(seen there on the poster) at a horror-movie convention. She was at the
convention promoting a new Troma film called Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead. For all
of you who are not familiar with the works of Troma, it is a low-budget
independent movie company, known for films full of blood, bimbos, and
overall bad-taste. Founded 30 years ago by Lloyd Kaufman, some of the better known titles over the years include, The Toxic Avenger, Class of Nuke 'Em High, and Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D.
Two years, and several conventions later, Troma is still promoting Poultrygeist, without a firm release date in sight.
To date, the only footage I've seen has been a 5 minute promo DVD that's been
distributed at the conventions. (Which you can see here on YouTube.
If the first 5 minutes is an accurate depiction of the entire film, fans of
horror-schlock will be in for a wonderful treat. That is, of course, if the film
ever gets released!
Bloody-Disgusting just posted a review
of the film, which was recently screened at the Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival. (Lucky bastard!)
For more info on Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead, there is also
a full-length article in the most recent issue of Fangoria (issue #263).
