Mario Bava Tribute

Fangoria recently posted a cool little blurb about an aspiring filmmaker, Semih Tareen, who created a short film that acts as a homage to the old Italian "giallo" films of the '60s and '70s. The film is dedicated to the legendary Italian horror movie director, Mario Bava. Bava (July 31, 1914 - April 27, 1980) is hailed by many to be the father of the modern-day slasher film with classics like Twitch of the Death Nerve (a.k.a Bay of Blood), and was a heavy influence on American filmmakers Sean Cunningham (Friday the 13th), Wes Craven (A Nightmare On Elm Street), and John Carpenter (Halloween).

Tareen captures the essence of the Italian giallo films perfectly, right down to the eerie music, gloomy atmosphere, and dramatic murder sequences. Check it out!
